2015 Jeep Renegade vs Kia Soul

Serving Chattanooga, Cleveland, East Ridge, Hixson, TN

Both the 2015 Jeep Renegade and the Kia Soul offer an urban-friendly size in a package that looks like an SUV. However, only the Renegade is an actually sport utility vehicle. The Soul is merely a compact car. This makes a difference when it comes to performance, spaciousness, and, of course, off-roading capability.

Performance

The Jeep Renegade is powered by a 160-horsepower engine, while the Kia Soul is powered by a 130-horsepower engine. This turbo cranks out a healthy 184 lb.-ft. of torque for ample acceleration. It's obvious which one is a better fit for a daily commute, for highway driving, or for tackling a mountain road. The Renegade also comes with two four-wheel drive-trains while the Soul only offers front-wheel drive. This makes the Renegade a better fit when roads are snowy. It's certainly a better fit if you ever want to take your vehicle off-road. Furthermore, the Renegade has a tow rating of 2,000 pounds. Towing is not something you want to do in a car like the Kia Soul. The Renegade also offers better transmission choices. The Renegade's manual transmission has been engineered for easier use and the automatic option is a nine-speed exclusive feature.

Spaciousness

While the Renegade is smaller for an SUV, it can still match or beat the Soul in size. It has an exceptionally upright design that gives SUV-like room to the front seat occupants. They'll feel quite at home with plenty of head and leg room. The Renegade's width also makes it more hospitable in the backseat. Both vehicles list 101 cubic feet of passenger space, although the Soul's space drops to 96 cubic feet when it has a sunroof. The Renegade has 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space compared to the Soul’s 18.1 cubic feet. Both can fold their back seats to more than double the cargo area. However, only the Renegade offers a folding front passenger's seat for extra length. This special chair also has hidden storage. Best of all, it's a Jeep standard on the Renegade. The Renegade offers a special My Sky Roof. This panoramic feature can be removed and stored in the trunk, making the Renegade feel like a convertible. That's certainly not possible in the Soul.

Off-Roading

The Soul may look like an SUV, but it definitely doesn't have the durability to withstand a trip off road. The Renegade, on the other hand, is a real SUV with a Trailhawk edition that can take you on quite an adventure. The Trailhawk is equipped with a special four-wheel drive system for trail riding and other off-road activities. It also has skid plates to protect important components. It has more ground clearance than the regular Renegade. The Selec-Terrain system, which is available on all four-wheel-drive-equipped Renegades can tackle mud, snow and other difficult surfaces. All of this makes the Renegade a more versatile option for taking on trips, whether to the lake, the beach, or the mountains.

Whether you are looking for an urban ride, a performance-oriented commuter, or an adventure machine, you can find all three in the 2015 Jeep Renegade. Take a test drive at your local Crown Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM.
