Performance
Two powertrains offer three performance options. The standard powertrain is a V-6 that cranks out 292 horsepower. Drivers can feel confident with that many horses under the hood. For something sportier, the S edition has the same powertrain but it has been tuned to increase horsepower to an even healthier 300 horsepower. The increase is accomplished with a special cold-air intake to boost the fuel-air blend. A V-8 option, available on either the S or the C trims, is made for driving enthusiasts. With 363 horsepower, this big sedan handles the 0-to-60 sprint in 5.8 seconds. For even more fun, drivers can opt for a sport mode that sharpens response from the engine, accelerator, and transmission. All three choices are paired with Chrysler’s excellent eight-speed automatic and a racy rear-wheel drivetrain. All-wheel drive and a sport suspension are available as well.
Interior
In keeping with its near-luxury status, the 2016 Chrysler 300 starts off with many amenities that are reserved for higher editions in other affordable models. This includes leather, power seats, and front seat heaters. The spacious interior is enhanced by smooth curves and high quality materials. The tech-rich cockpit includes a dual-zone programmable thermostat, push button start, and a space-saving rotary gear-selector. The luxurious C trim complements its leather upholstery with a natural wood trim. Amenities include power-adjusting pedals and two-tone leather choices. The Platinum trim goes further by wrapping the instrument panel with leather. Seats are clad in premium Nappa leather.
Features
Starting with the affordable Limited trim, the 2016 Chrysler 300 has an 8.4-inch touchscreen, to control all of your entertainment features, that is complemented by a 7-inch instrumentation screen. Other equipment includes a USB port, a rearview camera, and satellite radio capability. The navigation system adds HD radio and UConnect Access. Higher trim levels offer premium sound systems by either BeatsAudio or Harman Kardon Audio Group.
Safety
The Chrysler 300 offers a valuable SafetyTec Plus package on most of its editions. This adds automatic high beams, automatic wipers, and true crash avoidance features. The lane departure warning comes with an assist that can nudge the car back into its lane. The full-speed forward collision warning comes with a Plus system that will apply the brakes to reduce crash severity. Adaptive Cruise Control has a Full Stop system which can react quickly to stopping traffic. The UConnect Access system includes an emergency call system. Other important package features include a blind spot monitor and, for reverse maneuvers, a rear cross-traffic alert.
